Discovering Natural's channel, I did my own research and decided to be a little adventurous.
So Rice water is basically that..Rice water. However, the method used to prepare it varies. Some say you can soak rice in water and just use the water drained from the rice. Boiling the rice and fermenting the water from the boiled rice seems to be the perfect method. When the rice water is left for a day or two to ferment, the pH decreases, which is good for hair because hair is acidic.
Beneftis of Rice Water
So why I am even using Rice Water? Rinsing or washing hair with rice water will improve manageability and protect it from future damage. In addition, the amino acids in rice water strengthen the hair roots, add volume and sheen and even make the hair smooth. The Yao women owe their 6 feet, healthy, long and beautiful hair to the benefits reaped from rice water.
I am always about getting my hair strengthened because it is so fine and delicate, so I am jumping on this bandwagon. For more information about the research on rice water and its benefits, click HERE
Other information that you should be aware of:
You van use any type of rice BUT IT MUST BE ORGANIC!
Rinse the rice of dirt and pesticides before you use it at all
It will be used as your semi-final rinse because you cannot leave it in your hair
Store it in a glass container in the refrigerator for no more than a week.
Optional: Add a few drops of essential oils beneficial to scalp health like Rosemary and Lavender
Try it out for six months and if it works continue to use it. If not, get off the bandwagon. That's what I will be doing but there is no harm in trying. Take pictures of your hair to make comparison.
