Wow! Long time no blogging. I promise to be better for as long as my hair is out. I plan on trying different styles for the summer.
So after protective-styling for months, I got sick of protective styles and just went on a whim to color my hair. I had been thinking about it since late last year and curbed my urge by doing protective styles.
So about six years ago I did bleach my natural hair and I had some damages. Believe me, I vowed to never color my hair again. But here we are again! Since my last experience with color, I have gained a wealth of information on how to take care of colored hair, so I should be fine. Besides, it is just hair and if it gets damaged again, it will grow back!
About the process:
So I was inspired by the author of "The Science of Black Hair", Audrey Davis-Sivasothy, who posted a picture of her highlighted natural hair, a few months ago, on Instagram. I asked her for some advice on coloring and she recommended Aveda Institute, because the color is naturally-derived. She also said that coloring is always problematic but doing one's part to ensure that the tools used are as gentle as possible, is very important.
Because I do not want to keep coloring to maintain, I got highlights. The highlights will not make the new growth so different from the colored part.
I will be doing a lot of moisturizing and protein treatment, alternating each type of treatment every week.
Has anyone tried Aveda Color? If so, what was your experience like? Please share below.
Your highlights look great!!!!!
