Threaded Braids in a Bun/No extensions

I am getting serious about protective styling again. I threaded my hair in 20 sections using the spiral technique. This technique, in my opinion, keeps my hair stretched and gives the "twist" look. I have always loved to wear my hair in a bun, so I went for it using these plaits.

I know the bun is pretty small but I just wanted to be comfortable with just my hair, so I did not add any extra hair to make my bun bigger.

To protect my edges, I actually started these braids with an actual braid. If one is not careful, threading can do some damages to one's  edges.

However, it helps protect  the hair a great deal. You can also control the length by making the plaits longer or shorter. Since I cannot leave them out because of the way I finish the ends, I always style these kind of plaits into an updo.

Have  you tried threading?

  1. No, I haven't tried threading yet, but your posts make me want to try it! I sometimes rock a small bun too, with two strand twists.

Oh how I love threading...LOL. I had always thought that it was only for kids but I have found a way to make it "grown up".

  3. did you use blue thread? so you braided your roots and then started threading it? I usually tie them all together with the thread, but i'll try the bun style the next time I thread my hair
