Minimizing Breakage Series: Water Pressure

Do you enjoy taking long showers especially when you are washing your hair?
Then, I implore you to adjust your showerhead for a low water pressure. Yes, the force of the water from the showerhead can help lift stubborn dirt from your hair and scalp, however, high water pressure can damage your delicate hair. Our hair is very fragile when it is wet and high water pressure will only make matters worse. If your showerhead is unadjustable and it releases water with high pressure, then it's time to change your showerhead. If it is adjustable, make it a habit to turn down the water pressure before doing anything with your hair in the shower.

  1. Good point, Tinuke. I would never think about water pressure being a problem. As a matter of fact, I always use heavy water pressure to help "push" the product out. Thanks for the heads up.

    1. Hey,
I sometimes forget myself but it can contribute to hair breakage if attention is not paid to it.

  2. I don't have my head under the head long enough to make a difference. I like the steam from a long shower not the pounding water on my head.
