I used Vegetable Glycerin during the winter!!!!!

source

........... and I did not die!!!!

Okay, I know I am being sarcastic but seriously, what is the basis for that theory "vegetable glycerin should be avoided in the colder months"? It is such a hype!!! I used this stuff during the winter like my title says, and my hair thanked me for it. This stuff keeps moisture in my hair for days, in other words, I do not have to moisturize my hair everyday like I used to. I moisturize twice a week!!!It works very well with my hair.

A couple of months ago, I thought I had to moisturize everyday due to the possibility of my hair being porous. My hair was limp, over-moisturized and broke very easily. Since I started using Vegetable Glycerin, my hair stays moisturized for three to four days without the need to be re-moisturized everyday.

There are so many bandwagons we jump in in the natural hair word. It is so important to do research and get facts for your own benefit.
I am not a scientist so I will provide links to blogs where you can read more on scientic based facts onVegetable Glycerin.

  1. I'm with you on the bandwagons and figuring things out for yourself. I really love the websites where they base all their posts on scientific posts. It helps. I learn as I go though. Sometimes I do no-nos (event the ones that are scientifically bad) but they work for my hair and lifestyle...so aw well.

  2. I agree. I use glycerin year round and I have been doing so for years with no repercussions. It is the best thing that has ever happened to my hair.

  3. Glycerin does wonders for the hair. I used to mix it with my Megatek and Jamaican Black Castor Oil when I was doing the Megatek challenge and it kept my hair super moisturized.

  11. Hey Zainab, I am sorry for the late reply. I use a ratio of 1:4, meaning 25% veg glycerin to 100 %distilled water, I use 2 tbs of aloe juice in the mix. Hope this helps!!!
