Review: pH 5.5.  I was reading on another blog that most clarifying shampoos have surfactants and hence high pHs, hence leaving the hair stripped.  This one did not leave my hair stiff and dry. It has a nice citrus smell. It really cleans the hair. My hair was squeaky clean after using it. Well it did it's job, cleaned and clarified. I do not have a water filter so I know I do need to clarify once in a while.  However,  It looked like my hair was stripped of some color. I hennaed afterwards so It really did not a make a difference.

My overall feel on this is that my hair felt very clean, it did not get dry. It is gentle enough for a clarifying shampoo and yet effective. I would just be careful to use this once every other month and follow with a moisturizing deep conditioner like KBB Luscious Mask.

I would buy this again (price $12.00 USD clarifying shampoo) as I need to clarify, also because I am thinking of trying cowashing this winter.

  1. Tinuke you are my product friend (lol) I've been wanting to try this for sometime . But, my hair hates clarifying shampoos and I know its a important step especially because I co-wash. So Ive been using the bentonite clay with aloe juice added ( pH7) which is ok because it is neutral as I know you know. Because I havent been having much luck with the clarifying shampoos. I am going to give this a go as well , because I reeeeally love the fact that the pH is lower. And I have really found my hair works out much , much better using products that are closer to our hairs pH. Thanks a bunch for sharing yet another great and beneficial review, you rock ! :)

  3. I've heard a lot of great things about Curls products. Did you use the conditioner afterwards? Or did you just put henna right in?

    Thanks for the review.

  4. Yes I love Curls Products, nice pH for our hair and no harsh ingredients plus they are super moisturizing. I hennaed after using the shampoo. Since it is a clarifying shampoo, it helps get rid of residue so I can really get the benefit of the henna.

    Thanks for stopping by Jenelle!!!

  5. Why are you only supposed to use it once every other month?

  6. Hi Rissa, thanks for stopping by. I use it sparsely because it is a clarifying shampoo, which is traditionally used to remove build ups. I do not use a lot of product in my hair hence the less need to clarify. I suggested once every other month because I noticed that my colo was stripped slightly. If it is used too frequently, that may happento the naturals with colored hair. It is not drying at all but I just like to use caution because it is a clarifying shampoo
