Benefits of Castor Oil

Hola Chicas,

I just recently started to use Castor Oil in my moisturizing regimen. I love the thickness. The thicker, the better for my hair to retain moisture.

In my recent post, I listed Castor Oil as one of my ingredients. I also use it to seal in the Leave-in. Castor Oil is usually described as a heavy and greasy oil, but my hair drinks it up.

Castor Oil
  • has germicidal, insecticide and fungicidal properties, which protect the scalp and hair from microbial and fungal infections. Microbial and Fungal Infections are the two pimary causes for hair loss.
  • Rich in Omega-9 Fatty Acids, which help hair and scalp to be moisturized, and preventing both from getting dry.
  • Aids in thickening hair, if applied regularly
TIP: Use it to thicken your thin ends. Overtime, as you trim damaged ends away, the thickened and moisturized ends  will keep split ends at bay

Some other benefits
Due to its thickening property, it can be used to aid the growth of eyebrows and lashes.

Sample Recipe for use of Castor Oil
Apply to scalp and roots of the hair. Put on the plastic cap
Wrap hair in towel. Let it sit in hair O/N. Shampoo your hair to remove treatment.
Proceed with your regular routine.

  1. This is one of my fav's and has yet to let me down. I infuse my castor oil with herbs. Infact I have one infusing right now w/ rosemary . I plan to allow it to infuse for about a month. I use castor oil for my two oldest daughters hair/ends as well. Excellent sealer. Its a bit to heavy for my youngest daughters hair.

And its also great mixed w/ another oil for skin cleasning. I have been doing this method for about three months. It is great!

Thanks Tinuke for sharing yet another beneficial post. Take care.
