What the company says: In or out? In or out? Why choose? Do both! Yes To Cucumbers Leave In Conditioner coats your luscious mane, lavishing you with intense long-lasting hydration that strengthens your hair for hours upon end. Leave-in and head out! Your hair will look so good you'll want to stay out partying all night! (And why not? You're gorgeous!)*

My Opinion:
As you may know, my hair is colored and when I saw that this conditioner is for colored treated hair, I was immediately drawn to it. It has a creamy consistency and it smells like vegetables. It tested at 7 (pH). It also has wheat germ(protein), which is strengthening. My hair falls under the damaged hair category(even though it is not damaged) since it is colored, so I try to use products that have protein, to strengthen my hair.
My hair was very soft on the 1st day I used this product but then, my hair started to feel dry and very rough afterwards. I used the conditioner to make a custom leave in (Youtube's Kimmay Leave in). Even with the added castor oil, jojoba oil and aloe vera juice, my hair still felt very rough... I had to combat the dryness with my Giovanni Leave in Conditioner, which immediately softened my hair.

  1. Great review ! I have read much about this leave-in from fellow naturals....some were in and some were out.

I agree with you leave-ins with protein ..shouldn't be used daily. I love my giovanni it hasnt let me down yet. Thanks much for your honesty.

    Take care.

  3. I haven't tried the leave-in, but have tried the Cucumbers Daily Makeover Conditioner and Carrots Mud Mask for Hair. I love them both!

I also have the Giovanni Direct and find it leaves my hair hard. The description on the back of the bottle says it "uses enriched proteins...by infusing each strand with proteins...," though I'm not sure which of its ingredients is a protein. I'm guessing the source of the protein makes a difference. What do you think?

  4. @vernitaHi Dear. Thanx 4 stopping by. I do not have any problem with my Giovanni Direct Leave in. It moisturizes my hair all the time and I use it everyday. I guess the protein content is mild. It always leaves my hair soft. Maybe, due to the fact that my hair is colored, it "soaks' up the protein.

  5. Hi Tinuke. I stumbled across your blog because I was looking for a review on this leave in. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the wheat germ that is used in this product is actually "wheat germ oil" not the wheat germ protein. And the oil is protein free as if I am not mistaken, most oils are.
